Tobacco Simple Sequence Repeats (SSR)

Using an in silico approach simple sequence repeats (SSR) were identified using sequences from Tobacco Gene Indices. SSRs are defined as at least repeats of 10 mononucleotides, 6 dinucleotides, 5 trinucleotides, 5 tetranucleotides, 5 pentanucleotides, and 5 hexanucleotides. An overview of the approach can be found here and a summary of the results here.

  • Summary of in-silico SSR search
TIGR has established a pipeline to identify the potential SSRs from tobacco EST sequences using bioinformatics approach. Please click here to view the pipeline and the statistics of our result.

  • Query TIGR Tobacco SSR Database
The SSRs can be searched by motif, length, annotation and Genbank accession number.

  • Available Downloads
The sequences as well as the annotation and predicted primer sets of the TIGR Tobacco Simple Sequence Repeat Database are publicly available and can be downloaded.
