The Plasmodium yoelii yoelii Genome Sequencing Program
The Institute for Genomic Research, in collaboration with the Naval Medical Research Center, has completed a whole genome sequencing project of a model rodent malaria parasite, Plasmodium yoelii yoelii to five-fold (5X) genome coverage. Funding for the project was made available through the U.S. Department of Defense through cooperative agreement with the US Army and Naval Medical Research Center.
The P. y. yoelii sequencing program is complementary to the effort initiated in 1996 by the International Malaria Genome Sequencing Consortium, to sequence the genome of the human malaria parasite P. falciparum.. The complete annotated sequence of all 14 chromosomes of P. falciparum. can be viewed here.
This site provides access to the complete set of annotated contigs that make up the P. y. yoelii 5X genome sequence, as well as to unnannotated sequence data.
