Arabidopsis Splicing Variations
During the incorporation of full-length cDNA and EST alignments into the Arabidopsis genome annotation, several splicing variations were identified. The variations are classified into several types, including the conventional alternative donor and/or acceptor splice sites, skipped exons, unspliced introns, alternate terminal exons, and transcripts beginning or ending within an intron of another isoform. These classified splicing variations are enumerated within the linked pages below, providing illustrations of the annotated isoforms along with the identity of the transcript sequences responsible for the unique variation. Alignments of the expressed transcript sequences (ESTs and full-length cDNAs) are provided as evidence for the structural annotations. In addition, links are provided to the gene report pages for each isoform for more detailed annotations. A small subset of this data was described previously (Haas et al., 2002). The latest data presented here will be described soon as part of our major effort to maximize the incorporation of transcript alignments into the Arabidpsis gene structure annotation (Haas et al, 2003).
