IUB Codes

This Appendix contains two tables listing the IUB single-letter codes for nucleotides and amino acids as proposed by the IUB Nomenclature Committee, [IUB Nomenclature Committee (1985) Eur. J. Biochem. 150; 1-5]. These codes are compatible with the codes used by most public databases (e.g., GenBank, EMBL, SWISS-PROT, PIR, etc.) and sequence analysis software.
