  1. How can I obtain the actual genomic microbial DNA or EST clones?

  2. TIGR does not distribute clones for the organisms we sequence. Our clone distribution policy provides details on how to get clones.

The THCs within the Human Gene Index are consensus sequences derived from EST sequences deposited in dbEST, gene sequences parsed from GenBank records, and HT sequences from EGAD. The THCs do not represent physical clones.

The EST sequences within each THC represent clones that can be obtained from the ATCC, Research Genetics, Incyte Genomics, or other distributors.

  3. How can I get TIGR Software?/What can TIGR Software do for me?

Please visit the TIGR Software page for details.

  4. I am a researcher and I will be in the area, or I am a journalist. Can I visit TIGR?

TIGR does not conduct standard tours, but does offer Student and Teacher Training and visits by school groups. Journalists can contact our Communications Office by email.

  5. Can I link to your site?
  6. Legitimate scientific and commercial entities are welcome to link to the TIGR site. We reserve the right to request that such links be removed.

  7. I would like to automate data analysis through the TIGR Web Site. Can I do this?
  8. We usually don't allow automated download of our pages, and we restrict automated scripting that hits our databases. Sites that are abusing access privileges will be informed and access will be restricted.

  9. Can I download your data?

Published sequence is available through our TIGR Database pages. For access to our unfinished genomic data, you must fill out the license agreement (free for academics). Please be sure someone authorized to sign for the institution (such as a professor or an advisor) fills it out, using her/his university email address (we don't accept .com addresses for the free academic licenses). Commercial entities must contact license@tigr.org

  10. How many genomes has TIGR published?

Our MDB pages provide a list of the world's microbial genome projects completed and underway. All of TIGR’s microbial projects are listed.
